| Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or |
The Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or is the oldest historic sports cars race in France. The meeting was originally held on the Monthlery racing track, near Paris, but now, the cars compete in the heart of the Burgundy region. |

(02 july 2012) The Prenois racing track is close to the city of Dijon and was inaugurated 40 years ago. It consists of a long straight line which passes into a tortuous course. Because of the rolling countryside, the track is technically difficult and demands the full concentration of the participants. For this reason, it is very popular with experienced pilots. It was incorporated into the Formula 1 program between 1974 and 1982 and became particularly known in 1979 when Renault celebrated its first victory with Jean-Pierre Jabouille, while Rene Arnoux and Gilles Villeneuve battled wheel to wheel for the second place.
More than 60 Formula 1 cars turn up for this year’s edition of the Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or. This is mainly due to the presence of the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association. For years already, this English club is involved in organizing historic racing cars events and we see their members regularly on the important European racing tracks.
The 260 participants are divided into 10 main categories of which the GT & Sports Car Cup includes 50 cars. On Sunday morning, the participants in this category are allowed 2 hours of great fun on the track. The Jaguar E-Types and AC Cobras cracks through the corners on 3 wheels and after one hour, the pilots switch in real Le Mans style. The AC Cobra's are too strong for the competition and the victory goes to the duo Voyazides/Hadfield.
This meeting is about enjoying an entire weekend long the great racing cars from years ago and we deeply respect the participants pulling their valuable cars from the parking lots in their garages to get them again at the paces. A special thanks to Xavier and Anne-Sophie of Virus Miniatures Automobiles for their hospitality towards Passione Automobile.
